Alasdair MacKenzie

Managing Director Joined: Jan 2006

Alasdair served his Fabrication/Welding Apprenticeship with Smillie & Cuthbertson Ltd and purchased the Company from the retiring MD in 2006. Alasdair has 34 years’ experience in Engineering and specialises in research and development of bespoke Engineering solutions for our wide range of Customers. He enjoys a challenge, especially combining his love of innovation with traditional engineering. Alasdair created our tag line “Flexibility is our Strength” as we aim to accommodate our Customers’ wide and varied requests – however unusual they may be.

Stephen Holland

Engineering Manager Joined: Jan 2013

Stephen served his Engineering Apprenticeship with a local multi-national Engineering Company and progressed to the role of Engineering Supervisor. With 35 years’ experience in an Engineering role Stephen has a solid background in Fabrication and Machining which allows him to provide the informative technical Customer Support our Customers require. Stephen enjoys the reactive role he has in the Company and revels in the daily challenge of satisfying our customers demands. Stephen is very much a people person and looks after our workshop staff and apprentices.

Iain Ferguson

Compliance Manager Joined: May 2014

A time served toolmaker with an extensive precision machining background, Iain has 32 years’ experience in Engineering gained working at large multinational companies and SME engineering companies. He has a wide range of project planning and management experience from initial concepts, capital applications, payback calculations, execution and completion. He is also a registered NEBOSH certificate holder which allows him to work through all compliance and statutory requirements for the company and the projects we carry out.

Iain looks after Compliance management involving HSE, BSI and other statutory requirements as well as Site visits and quoting and planning of machining opportunities.

Grant Kinloch

Production Engineer Joined: Jan 2011

Grant served his Apprenticeship with Smillie & Cuthbertson as a Machinist operating conventional and CNC milling machines and lathes. Additional training in all aspects of the Business has allowed him to gain a good knowledge of Fabrication and maintenance. In recent years Grant’s role was developed to include Solid Works training to provide Engineering drawings for the workshop and proposal drawings for our Customers.

Grant, along with Stephen, now helps manage the Workshop staff on a daily basis making sure our Customers jobs are delivered in a timely manner and to the highest quality standard. Grant’s knowledge and experience to date, helps him tailor our services to find the quickest and best solution for our Customers, whatever the circumstances.

Alex Harley

Estimator / Support Engineer Joined: May 2016

Alex joined the team at S+C Engineering as Technical Support Engineer, after completing his CNC and Conventional Machining Apprenticeship and a role as Mechanical Design Engineer. Alex has a keen interest in Engineering and enjoys handling incoming jobs and enquiries and assisting in winning new business opportunities through realistic and successful tendering. He has also been actively involved with Procurement and Materials Management, expediting goods to ensure production can progress efficiently and uninterrupted.

Natalie MacKenzie

Business Support Leader Joined: Jan 2015

Natalie recently moved from Finance into a new role in Purchasing for the Engineering Team but also looks after Marketing, Social Media, IT and Graphic Design. She is also the main point of contact for any Facom, Britool Expert and Dewalt tools sales. Natalie has qualified as an Internal Auditor for our ISO 9001:2015 accreditation and will soon be continuing her personal development with an ILM qualification in Leadership and Team Skills.

Heather MacKenzie

Finance Director Joined: Jan 2006

Heather joined the Company in 2006 when she bought the Business with her husband Alasdair. With a background in Accounts and Sales Management her experience helped modernise the banking and financial processes of the Business. Heather is also responsible for HR and engagement with Public Sector bodies to maximise our growth potential through advertising, marketing and strategy planning.

Heather also oversees the Company’s support of Charitable Projects through our Community Fund.
